Prep. Choose your fabric. I like a nice cotton quilting fabric for napkin projects. I chose a sweet fairy design for tea party napkins.
Cut. Press fabric and cut to desired dimensions. Remember that the finished project will be smaller because we will be hemming the raw edges. For toddler sized napkins I like to cut 12×12 square.
Fold. I like to use starch with this step to make the folding easier. Fold each side in ~1/4 inch and press in place. Then repeat the process folding all sides another 1/4 inch. (Therefore if you cut 12×12 squares the finished napkin will measure 11×11). Press and pin in place.
Hem. Start sewing in the middle of one of the edges as opposed to one of the bulkier corners. Sew 1/4 inch seam allowance around entire napkin, sewing the hem in place, backstitching at the end.
Repeat. Repeat x ??? for a pile of simple sturdy napkins!
